I am deeply unsatisfied with my working title. The current placeholder: Fire Watch The premise: A clandestine agency, multinational in nature, has been trying to keep an alien culture from outright invasion of the Earth for the better part of 40 years. By this point, the aliens are ready to escalate the situation from cattle mutilations and the occasional abduction to small scale raids designed more to provoke fear and sap morale than any sort of specific military objective. The agency, up to this point having been staffed by spooks and cops, now has to start fielding a credible military force to counteract the aliens and further discourage them from full invasion. At the same time, they can't go around advertising that they exist or letting word get around that there are aliens landing on Earth. Equal parts spy novel, war story, and political thriller with plenty of aliens, a dash or two of fringe science, and some super-geeky mad scientist tech. Influences: X-COM: Enemy Unknown (old school computer game, hard as hell, major inspiration), Men In Black, Rainbow Six Bonus Points: Poetry references from Rudyard Kipling, Lord Byron, Fitz-Greene Halleck. Double Bonus Points: Poetry references from other poets in the same vein as the above.
